Our field trips are designed with teachers in mind to work together to provide an interactive and exploratory STEAM experience for your students.

We serve students from across the Rogue Valley in grades PreK - 12. Each workshop is tailored to your grade and appropriate Next Generation Science Standards.

Your visit for up to 120 students includes Museum Exploration time, as well as an optional added workshop.

 

Field Trips are offered Wednesday through Friday, with 2 available time slots:

  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Base Price:

  • $9 per student
  • $5 per student for Title 1 schools
  • All School Staff Free
  • 1 additional free adult per 5 students
  • Additional Chaperones are $9 per person

Each workshop includes a 1-hour hands-on activity for up to 30 students.

owl pellet workshop

 

Owl Pellet Dissection
$125 per 30 students
Working in small groups, students will learn about owl biology and dissect a sanitized owl pellet. They can even keep their favorite finds!

Students use our various tools and supplies to make a Rube Goldberg Machine with musical instruments.

Students rotate between 3 stations to learn the science behind wilderness survival, like making a compass and a model life raft.

LEGO bridge engineering workshop

 

LEGO Bridge Engineering
$60 per 30 students
Using everyone’s favorite building blocks, students will build and test different types of bridges to learn about civil engineering.

Microscope Lab
$60 per 30 students
Introduce Laboratory Science to your students by using microscopes to identify various specimens and create their own dichotomous keys.

$60 per 30 students
Students work in small groups to try to retrieve samples from Mars using our color-coding Ozobots.

Know Before You Go:

  • Agree to abide by Group Agreement during the entirety of your visit.
  • Please distribute Chaperone Responsibilities to your chaperones before arrival.
  • Ensure that your group has at least 1 adult for every 5 students, and decide groups and chaperones before you arrive.
  • Lunch spaces are outside on our Plaza.
  • We can offer noise-reducing headphones to any visitor.
  • Be prepared to provide an accurate headcount of Staff, Students, and Chaperones.
  • If your group arrives more than 20 minutes late, your workshop will be canceled. However, you are still able to explore the museum.
  • ScienceWorks requires a written notice of cancellation, or your group will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. Email education@scienceworksmuseum.org at least 24 hours before your start time to cancel your reservation. 

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled field trip start time to receive an orientation to the museum and an itinerary.
All of our workshops are designed to be engaging for all grade levels, and we adjust our activities accordingly.

By popular demand, we have brought back our ScienceLIVE shows for Friday field trips only!
This interactive and engaging science show will add an extra special ending to a wonderful day at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum. Featuring science demos performed by our educaors, each show is about 30 minutes long.

A ScienceLIVE add-on show will add 30 minutes extra to your field trip time and is only available on Fridays.

The fee for a ScienceLIVE add-on show is $75.
