Weekends in March
Free with membership or admission
Every Saturday* and Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM, Kranzler Hall comes alive with rotating facilitated activities that spark curiosity and creativity. Drop in for favorites like the painting pendulum, the exploration station, and our ever-inventive tinkering studio — all free with membership or admission.
This March, the tinkering studio features a variety of activities on rotation such as Coral Reef, Basketball Launcher, Solar Circuits, Cardboard Forest, and Green Machine.
*Please note the Tinkering Studio will be closed on Saturday, March 28.
Come play, explore, and stay curious!
MuseumLab
Saturdays
1 to 3 PM
Ages 6 - 12
MuseumLab is a pop-up science lab inside ScienceWorks where kids ages 6 to 12 turn curiosity into real discovery. Led by educator and former lab scientist Ash Friend, these two-hour weekend workshops invite participants to investigate big questions through playful, hands-on challenges inspired by museum exhibits. Kids test ideas, collect real data, redesign experiments, and collaborate — all in an active, supportive environment.
March 28 — Light & Shadow Stories
What happens when light becomes your storytelling tool? Step up to the Shadow Wall to explore how light behaves, then create your own shadow stories. Experiment with UV light, investigate the chemistry and physics of glow sticks and phosphorescence, and discover how photovoltaic cells turn light into energy. Freeze a shadow in time, bring puppets to life, and try your hand at painting with light.
Earth Day
Saturday, April 18

Earth Day is a call to protect our planet for future generations. Come learn, explore, and take action while celebrating the amazing people working to care for our planet — rain or shine.
