World Pup: Biomechanics, Robotics, & Soccer
What does it take to move like a soccer star... and can a robot learn how? Participants investigate motion, joints, and biomechanics through the Sportsology exhibit and a soccer cone challenge, exploring how bodies move, balance, and generate power. Then take on the ultimate experiment: “coaching” the ScienceWorks robotic dog to play using their observations.

Pterosaurs Exhibit
Closes May 31
Can you guess what's coming next?
Our Pterosaurs exhibit is soaring away on May 31. If you haven’t had a chance to explore these incredible flying reptiles, now is the time. Stop by before they take off for good and get up close with the science, scale, and mystery of these prehistoric giants.
What’s coming next? Let’s just say… things are about to come together in a whole new way. We can’t wait for you to see how it all connects.
As we prepare for our next exhibit, a portion of the main gallery will be closed from June 1 – 12. We appreciate your patience during this transition and look forward to welcoming you back to experience something entirely new.
The Home Project
Opening Reception
Saturday, June 6
4 to 6 PM
Free
The Heartisan Foundation presents The Home Project, a collaborative social-engagement art initiative centered on humanizing houselessness and fostering a culture of belonging in Southern Oregon. Through portrait photography and artist-interpreted storytelling, the project amplifies voices impacted by housing insecurity, migration, and economic inequity. This work culminates in public exhibitions that invite community reflection on what it means to be at home — with ourselves and with one another. On display at ScienceWorks' Art in STEAM Gallery June through August.
Mural Fest 2026 — "Belonging"
Saturday & Sunday
June 20 & 21
10 AM to 5 PM
Free
Ashland Mural Fest invites the Southern Oregon community to witness the creation of large-scale public art in real time. During Mural Fest, regional muralists transform the ScienceWorks plaza into an open-air studio. Over one weekend, visitors watch as artists bring large-scale murals to life in real time, offering a rare glimpse into the creative process. The completed works remain on display throughout the summer, adding vibrant color and energy to the museum grounds.
Come celebrate local artists and the vibrant role that public art plays in shaping and reflecting our community. There will be food, music, and more!
Siskiyou Crest Artist in Residence Summer Presentation
Sunday, June 28
2 PM
Free
Join us for a free presentation and Q&A with 2026 Siskiyou Crest Artist in Residence Cody Markelz. A Northern California artist, scientist, and outdoorsman, Cody creates illustrations and zines inspired by the natural world that both educate and entertain. During his residency at Acorn Woman Lookout in the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest, Cody is creating comparative studies of the Siskiyou Crest and the Mount Shasta region through gouache paintings, sketches, and field journals that will later become a new illustrated zine. Discover how art, science, and wild landscapes intersect during this engaging community presentation at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum.
Turn the wheel. Change the flow. Build a river. Make a wave.
Every choice creates a ripple — shape the water and see what happens. Stay curious!
