May 17th 6:30-10pm with dancing until 11pm

The event includes a beautiful evening filled with fabulous foods, incredible wines, magical music, educational exhibits, and an exploration of the science behind the making and enjoying of wine. The Science of Wine is ScienceWorks' only major fundraiser and helps support its educational programs serving children and educators from all over southern Oregon and northern California.

This event is not just a mere wine tasting!  Instead, this Gala includes delicious hors d'oeuvres from our area's best restaurants, and wines paired with every bite.  The event also features exhibits and activities that allow guests to explore the basic components of wine, including acid, sugar and tannins.  Winemakers, leading wine experts and local chefs will help guests discover which wines pair best with certain foods, and why these combinations work so well.  Examples of previous wine and food pairings include:

  • "Inca Salmon" with asparagus and spicy mushrooms from Beasy's on the Creek paired with a 2003 Pear House Reserve Syrah and a 2002 Claret from EdenVale Estate
  • Chicken and basil puff pastry and crostini with goat cheese, olive tapenade and sun dried tomato spreads from Cafe Dejuener paired with a Henry Estate Pinot Gris and a 2002 Barrel Select Pinot Noir.
  • Chocolate dipped orange shortbread and Mexican chocolate truffles from Creek House Patisserie and smoked blue cheese chocolates with lavender caramels from Lillie Belle Chocolatier paired with a 2005 Claret and a 2005 Syrah from Slagle Creek Vineyards

In addition to great regional wine and food there will also be live music performances by Annie Mac and Charley Pagani & Friends, as well as live and silent auctions.See below for a complete list of live auction items.

Tickets are $55 for ScienceWorks members and $65 for non-members.  We expect the event to sell out so buy your tickets soon!  Buy your tickets here
