The Thrills and Challenges of Teaching High School Astronomy

Join us Wednesday, October 17 at 7pm  for a presentation by Robert Black, Astronomy teacher from North Medford High School. Robert will outline and explore the inner workings of a current High School Astronomy Teacher and all that it entails on a daily and yearly basis. The successes of his career will be highlighted as well as the challenges for the future teachers.

Robert will discuss past trends and policies in education as well as current legislation and administrative rules. In addition, Robert will talk about and demonstrate the technology needed to teach astronomy at the highest level. The discussion will move toward, “ How can you help and make a difference in education”? The presentation is designed to instill a sense of hope for the future with a dose of the reality facing current classroom teachers.
